Welcome to Health and Water Foundation

Health and Water Foundation (HWF) is a Kenyan nonprofit organization founded in 2003 with the mission of improving the overall well-being of underserved communities through targeted interventions in health, water, sanitation, education, and climate change resilience. Through various initiatives, HWF works towards promoting education for young girls and supporting poor primary schools by providing clean water, sanitation facilities, and hygiene education. HWF prioritizes early childhood education and works closely with communities to build capacity and eradicate poverty. HWF is committed to creating sustainable solutions that address the pressing needs of climate action as climate change, water, and health are interconnected issues, and dispropriately affect marginalized communities.

HWF endeavours to increase access to water and sanitation facilities in destitute schools and surrounding communities with a focus on young girls.

HWF works to strengthen the capacity and resilience of the most vulnerable communities in arid and semi-arid areas to adapt to the effects of climate change.

Enabled Access to Clean Water for Over 10,000 Beneficiaries

Rehabilitating School Facilities and Training Teachers in Over 50 Primary Schools

A completed stream classes rehabilitation intended to revitalize the learning environment, providing students with safe, conducive spaces that encourage engagement and facilitate better educational outcomes across multiple grade levels.

Planted more than 200,000 trees under the agroforestry initiative in western Kenya

Enabled Over 1,000 Beneficiaries to Participate in Adult Education Programs

A farmer in Nyamira County, one of our many participants, is successfully implementing agroforestry techniques, integrating tree planting with crop production to enhance biodiversity, improve yields, and promote sustainable land management practices.
Adults in adult education classes are gaining essential skills and knowledge, empowering them to improve their literacy, enhance employment opportunities, and actively participate in community and economic development.

Successfully Conducted Four Free Medical Camps for Community Health Outreach

Provided Essential Food Supplies to Internally Displaced Persons in Kisii District

In Kisii, children receive attentive care from doctors at a school medical camp, where they benefit from health check-ups, treatments, and preventative care, ensuring their well-being and supporting their educational journey.
A victim of post-election violence receives essential food assistance at an IDP camp, providing vital nourishment and support during a critical time of recovery and rebuilding.
